Some San Sebastián traditions, customs and festivals are a fusion of the ancient history of the city (an important military and strategic enclave) with gastronomic paraphernalia. The characteristic tamborradas are the most popular and playful expression of this, converting into a huge Fiesta (street party) every 19th/20th January, the dates of the patron saint of the city, San Sebastián.
