Cities are marked by events that shape their identity. When, at the end of the 19th century, the court of Queen Regent María Cristina chose to spend their summers in San Sebastián, it attracted more visitors, and a period of social and aesthetic splendor began that would culminate in the so-called Belle Epoque of San Sebastián during the first decades of the twentieth century.
