    Eran los años 60, marcados por una juventud rebelde que se expresaba en todas las manifestaciones sociales; también en el Atletismo. En su proyección más universal y mediática, las Olimpiadas, los atletas afroamericanos Tommie Smith y John Carlos protagonizaron una de las imágenes icónicas de la década, levantando el puño en el podium de México 1968 al sonar el himno de Estados Unidos, alertando sobre los derechos civiles en su país.

    It was the 60s, etched by the rebel youth expressing through all social manifestations, radiating into to the world of Atheltics. Through its greatest form of universal and media projection, the Olympic Games, the Afroamerican athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos starred in one of the most iconic images of the decade: Mexico 1968, their fists raised from the podium as the USA national anthem played in the background, two fists signaling towards the struggle and standing true to the fight for civil rights in their country.

    C’était les années 60, marquées par une jeunesse rebelle qui s’exprimait dans toutes les manifestations sociales, notamment dans l’athlétisme. C’est lors de sa projection la plus universelle et médiatique, les Jeux Olympiques, que les athlètes afro-américains Tommie Smith et John Carlos créèrent une des images les plus iconiques de la décennie, en levant le poing sur le podium de Mexico 1968 alors que l’hymne américain était joué, pour revendiquer les droits civils de leur pays.
